Las Vegas Bars Will Remain Socially Distant

Social distancing guidelines must still be followed, and starting next week, the COVID-19 task force will determine what actions they will take if there’s a spike in new cases.

Gov. Sisolak released a statement on the approved coronavirus task force action plan, indicating his support for the reopenings.

Requirements for Businesses to Reopen

“I am beyond thrilled that the hard work of Nevada’s residents and businesses has resulted in our COVID-19 data trending in a positive direction, allowing the Task Force to lift restrictions on bars in counties that previously had these mitigation measures in place due to their transmission risk levels,” the Governor said.

“I have consistently been in support of safely lifting restrictions and reopening areas of our economic and social life based on improvements in our data, in addition to strong participation and enforcement plans from local governments. The work completed by the Task Force over previous weeks, in addition to their recent actions, represent the State’s commitment to a transparent process, a safe reopening, and coordinated partnerships with our local governments.”

It’s Been a Rocky Road for Most Businesses

The extension of closings has a lot of small business and bars coping with revenue loss and some are just shutting their doors all together.

According to a survey done by Facebook, about 31 percent of small and medium-sized firms have closed shop in the last three months. But the situation has been bad for the automotive industry and personal businesses.  Numerous reasons have been cited to explain why businesses have failed, but a majority of businesses say strict government protocols while some claimed it was due to financial struggles. What’s more, increased operational costs coupled with smaller revenues have compounded the challenge.

The inability to access capital or funding from financial institutions and reduced sales have largely contributed to the growing challenges businesses are facing amidst the pandemic. Even some of the giant tech companies have resorted to a call for ‘buy-local’ so as to appeal to their local clientele. Since the novel coronavirus held the entire world at ransom, companies have been trying to stay afloat through sustained marketing.
