Having a baby is an awesome responsibility and it’s no wonder when picking out a travel destination that Las Vegas is the spot for babies and toddlers. But that’s not for us to decide where you travel to. But we can give you some pros and cons of choosing Las Vegas as a family destination for a vacation.
Pros of Bringing Your Baby to Las Vegas
Vegas has great places to bring your baby. Most hotels and casinos have appropriate facilities for kids and families.
Pools are a popular destination for families when vacationing in Las Vegas. Mandalay Bay, Planet Hollywood, Excaliber, Luxor, Mirage, Rio, Bellagio, M Resort, Sams Town, Green Valley Ranch and Circus Circus all have kid-friendly hotels. Look for wave pools and lazy rivers.
Off the Strip, family-friendly hotels like Red Rock Casino is about 30 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip. They have a great pool area that is large and spacious for families and private cabanas for a little more shade if needed. Las Vegas is a great place to unwind and take in the sights and sounds with family and friends and most casinos will accommodate families and even take special requests. So, be sure to inquire with the hotel your staying with to accommodate your families needs.
South Point Hotel Casino is another great spot for families and kids. Just 25 minute South on the Las Vegas boulevard you can catch an Uber or Lyft to get there. It too has a great pool area for kids and plenty of things to do inside like a movie theater, bowling alley, arcade game room, and other amenities that are sure to keep the kids busy.
Cons of Bring Your Baby to Las Vegas
Is it safe to bring your baby to Las Vagas?
Yes, if you’ve planned out your trip and stick to a schedule. Most babies or toddlers have a schedule that you have adopted for them at home. It will be a good idea to adjust to the hustle and bustle of Las Vegas according to feeding time, water, and recreation. It can get very hot and dry in the summer months, so be sure to monitor your child’s fluids for proper hydration so overheating does not occur.
Have a stroller and car seat for your babies and toddlers when commuting up and down the strip. Small kids will have a tough time walking long distances along the Las Vegas Strip. Be sure to have a stroller with you for the long hauls and if you’re getting an Uber or Lyft ride. You will have to have a car seat for kids under 6 years old. This can be a chore if not prepared ahead of time. The hotel front baggage claim can accommodate you with your car seat at the front of the hotel for the commute to and from places in Las Vegas.
Adult Content is Everywhere in Las Vegas
Most people will argue that Las Vegas is no place for small children or pre-teens with the adult content that is seen all over the Las Vegas Strip and downtown Fremont Street. It’s all your perspective on the matter. If you demonize the kind of things seen in Las Vegas your children will rebel more and tend to challenge your way of thinking. If you behave as though it’s just a normal thing your child will think that this is just normal and there is nothing wrong happening here.
Speaking to your children about Las Vegas ahead of time will also set the stage that some of the things are for adults and some things are for children in Las Vegas. This may open a conversation about what the child sees and you can explain it better and not demonize a great vacation or trip to Las Vegas.
