When it comes to construction in Las Vegas you can bet on disruption with orange cones and large cranes hoisting curious oddities onto hotels along the Strip. We love new changes when it comes to the Las Vegas landscapes and we are no strangers to the anticipation of the completion of them.
Here are a few new and interesting things coming to Las Vegas that range from remodels to new sporting arenas in the rumor mill and planning board. What board that is, is anyone’s guess?
If reading through this is not your thing. Here’s a video of the projects and remodels you should familiarize yourself with.
- Demolition of the Tropicana – The Tropicana is being demolished to make way for a new baseball stadium. The Oakland A’s will be playing here starting in 2027. Complete demolition is expected by October 2024.
- New Arenas for Las Vegas? The possibility of two new arenas being built in Las Vegas is a major topic of discussion. One potential location is on the south end of Las Vegas near Mandalay Bay, while the other is on the north end between Sahara and Fountain Blue. The NBA is finalizing a media rights deal and an expansion decision is expected by the end of the year. These arenas could potentially house a new NBA team and the existing WNBA team.
- Venetian Resort Renovation – The Venetian Resort is undergoing a massive $1.5 billion renovation, the largest and most expensive hotel renovation in history. The project will touch on every aspect of the resort, from its logo to its suites. The renovation of the suites will be completed by September 2024, while the convention space renovation is expected to be finished by 2027.
- New Shopping Complex “The Boulevard” – A new multi-level shopping complex called “The Boulevard” or BLVD is being built across from the Waldorf Astoria. The complex is expected to be open by fall 2024 and will feature a variety of shops, restaurants, and entertainment options.
- Las Vegas Convention Center Renovation – A $600 million renovation is underway at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The project includes a new Tech West Hall and an update to the North Hall. Work on the project is expected to continue until 2025.
- Bottled Blonde – A new 4-story, 25,000-square-foot venue called Bottled Blonde is set to open on the Las Vegas Strip this fall. The venue will feature a restaurant, bar, beer garden, and open-air rooftop lounge.
These are just some of the many construction projects that are underway in Las Vegas. The city is booming, and these new developments are sure to make it an even more popular destination for tourists and residents alike.
