Las Vegas Smoking Policies Amid Mask Mandate Tightens

Expect Smoking to Be Limited in Las Vegas

New smoking limits across Las Vegas casinos are among the latest safety policies rolled out by properties, in efforts to stop the spread of coronavirus amid rising cases and recent bar rollbacks to Phase 1.

The Southern Nevada Health District encouraged businesses to develop tobacco-free policies to prevent the spread of coronavirus, which is known to spread via respiratory droplets.

“Smoking has been a hard line issue for decades,” said Jeff Hwang, a gaming and casino consultant who has tracked changes since Nevada’s June 4 reopenings.

“They are trying everything possible– these are things they should have done to begin with,” Hwang said.

Some experts are saying, that now is a good time to try and quit the smoking habit all together.

Hwang said he has observed, among other newer safety measures, a race to copy plexiglass designs for use in gaming and customer interaction.

Caesar’s Entertainment announced a mandate of all employees to test for coronavirus, or they would not be allowed to return to work.

To comply with mask mandates, properties have handed out complimentary face coverings.

Nevada initiated the first rollback of reopenings, Friday, closing down bars to limit the spread of coronavirus. Governor Sisolak did not indicate that he would close down casinos, next, and said properties were taking numerous measures to keep tourists safe.
